Recent things

Let us see, had two officers escorting a drunk inmate out of his cell and he started bucking, tossed on into a fan and then got dropped. cracked his head on the concrete and got knocked out. we had to 911 him to hospital where he eventually woke up. Had a inmate jack a tray slot on me, we got it back, he then spat on another officer in the face, speared another, then spat on the sergeant. Got gassed and gave up.

Previous occurances

This is stuff in the pass that has happened that I kept track of, im just adding on here. I am not putting in officer or inmate names, just occurrences.

Put out a small fire in December, Christmas day. Last month in March we had a inmate come back from the hospital unit after cutting his wrists. We put him in a cell, and as soon as he was uncuffed he ripped out all the stitches in his arm. He was bleeding into the toilet and sink, and it was going so freely it sounded like the water was dripping out of the faucet. When we finally managed to get him out he kept collapsing. Our hands got covered in blood etc, thank God we are supplied gloves. He lost gang money so he was trying to get moved to another unit by doing this, except it almost backfired and killed him.

Also, last week in Estelle Unit, in our highest security section for Texas, a officer got speared in the buttocks, and it exited through his testes. That just has to suck.

Month of October

A Polunsky death row inmate called a Texas senator and told him the doings of the unit for 2 weeks, then got pissed off and threatened him. The senator told the governor and a state-wide lockdown occurred. Every unit is being shaken down real well, and 5 days into it 93 cell phones and accessories have been found. Officers get pat searched, cars are searched and etc. Some officers who have been caught include a lady who had a cell phone in her hair and a officer with a cell in a subway sandwich.

Month of September

Offender was found with a 2 foot shank made from part of his locker under his mattress. Told rank it was meant for a officer but wouldn't say who. Hurricane Ike hit, lost power for 5 days and had a blast during it. Also a escape at Stickyune (sp) Unit down south, didn't get caught till october.

Month of August
August has been fairly quiet for 3rd shift, one fight happened between two inmates in a dayroom but ended quickly. On the night of the 22nd we had a hanger on A3 we had to respond to, bit of a run there. The fool was at first faking it, but then lost his balance and then really WAS hanging. We got him cut down and on a gurney and a ambulance took him up to Huntsville med for rest of the night. Officer in Michaels Unit, Seg got a inmate out for shower and wound up being shanked 17 times. Last heard was on life support.

Month of July

A inmate collapsed in the hallway, puking and shitting on himself. When he began puking blood he got life lighted to Bryan. Turns out a virus has appeared called the Nora virus, and at end of the month 300 inmates sick and a few officers. Been in quarantine since the first, and it continued into August.

Month of June
Got chunked on on the 29th with water on A3 1 row, just started tossing stuff out for no reason.

Month of May
Work has been interesting because the inmates are really restless, and the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas got caught planning a massive riot/breakout. They found weapons, escape tools, lists of boss schedules and how the day is broken down, boss and supervisor names and what vehicles they drove, maps of the unit, parking lot, and huntsville. They were realy serious cause there were lists of all 1st shift officers saying who was going to be hostages and who were going to be killed right off.

Firearms

I have a nice small collection of guns I shall be sharing with today. I currently own: one 9mm Hancer 2000 pistol, one Mossberg 500 pump shotgun without stock, one Mossberg 500 shotgun with wooden stock, one AK-47 varient rifle, a P-350 shotgun, and a 30-06 scoped rifle. All are my babies, loved tenderly every night before bed. I wish to soon have a AR-15 rifle (expensive), a .357 revolver of some make, and a 40 cal pistol as well. I love to go shooting with buddies, especially since our training at work with the firearms we use is a joke, so might as well put in a little extra time. Might save a life someday! (Yes by ending someone else's)

How to begin

My name first of all is Garrett. I am 21 years old, currently living in Huntsville Texas. I work as a Correctional Officer in the Wynne Unit, which is a love/hate thing at the moment. I was born in Texas, never lived anywhere else, and have no wish to ever move from Texas. I listen to country, alternative and classic rock, and once in a rare while techno and rap. I love to read, military fiction, science fiction, and some fantasy occupy my time much. Especially post-apocalyptic survivor books. I also love to travel, I have been to three other countries (Mexico, Canada, and England) and 26 states. I dream of being able to visit every country there is (soon as I win the lotto and have my mansion, jet, and playboy wife right?). My favorite trips were to London, New York, Chicago, and around Texas.

A lot of this blog will be about what happens at work, though it isn't nearly as exciting as television makes it seem, we do have interesting moments. I work the maximum security section of the prison, where all we deal with are inmates who do rape, murder, drug dealing etc AFTER being in prison. Also we deal with all the major gangs, who are moved to our department soon as we know about them. They have cells to themselves, rarely leave, and like to act stupid so there will be some interesting stories I am sure. We are the responders for fights, riots etc; we must wear stab-proof vests at all times, wield at times riot batons, gas grenades, gas grenade launchers and more, just because of the type of inmates we deal with.

I cannot think of anything else at the moment, so I shall stop rambling. Later I will put up some old happenings that I have saved.
